MASTERING SHOULDERS: SIMPLIFYING THE COMPLEX

 

A very popular physical therapy course, which has been specifically developed for all physiotherapists, osteopaths, myotherapists and manual therapists who are keen to discover highly effective strategies for successfully assessing and treating shoulder dysfunctions. 

 

Participants will be exploring a fully systematic approach to shoulder management which significantly helps “de-mystify” shoulder problems. 

 

  • Study a systematic approach to objective assessment of the shoulder region.
  • Apply highly effective treatment skills specifically related to the shoulder region. 
  • Understand concepts of optimal mobility, stability and neural dynamics. 
  • Review the essential functional anatomy and biomechanics of the region. 
  • Identify both common and complex upper limb muscle imbalances. 
  • Practice an extensive spectrum of rehabilitation & functional strengthening exercises.

During the course participants will have the opportunity to: 

 

  • Understand concepts of neural dynamic tension, optimal range of motion & dynamic stability at the shoulder. 
  • Learn how to assess and treat adverse neural tension in the upper limb. 
  • Explore the complexity of shoulder dysfunctions, and learn to recognise and manage common imbalances. 
  • Appreciate the extensive interaction between glenohumeral instability and impingements at the shoulder. 
  • Fine-tune the most effective assessment skills and orthopaedic tests for common shoulder dysfunctions. 
  • Learn a diverse spectrum of highly effective hands-on myofascial releases and treatment techniques. 
  • Practice the application of a full array of rehabilitation and functional conditioning exercises for the shoulder. 
  • Fully review essential functional and applied anatomy plus biomechanics of the entire shoulder region.

 

 

 

Highly Practical Courses

Wayne Rodgers, APAM is an APA sports and exercise physiotherapist, functional strength coach and highly experienced course presenter with over 30 years of clinical experience. He has been a sports physiotherapist for several national and international sports teams including the Australian Netball team and the Australian Commonwealth Games team. Wayne has a special interest in the management of shoulder dysfunctions and in the effective utilisation of functional strength training within physiotherapy practice. When designing and delivering professional development courses he has a strong focus on providing evidence-based, highly systematic approaches to assessment and treatment - with a significant component of all his courses dedicated to the acquisition and mastery of practical skills. With an ability to convert complex health and high performance concepts into vitalised messages and simple strategies, Wayne has become a very popular presenter on sports physiotherapy and fitness industry seminars and courses. He has presented over 3000 hours of training and education to receptive audiences throughout Australia and around the world over the past 20 years. His current professionals roles include: running a successful sports physiotherapy clinic and functional strength coaching facility in Noosa QLD, contributing to the Masters in Sports Medicine program at Melbourne University, developing online education and training programs and delivering up to 30 physiotherapy
